The tournament was made in order to raise funds for the children of monarchs that they spent to run the circuit, also the first event organized by the Association of Wave Sliders Jaco, composed by Lisbeth Vindas, Diego Naranjo, Juan Calos Chavez, Juan Calderon, Selena Herwing Cubero and Chuck. The list of big sponsorships: WOW Surfing, Tsunami, Arenas, Mango, Billabong Camp, Premier Dental Care, Tabacon, Marea Alta, Surf Inn Hermosa, Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce, among others. The idea is that the Asociation function as an independent entity and seek the welfare of the surfer jacobeños especially those who do not have financial support to study and surf.
